Conserve your own little piece of the world.

We believe that life is better in our great outdoors and that everyone should have the chance to experience the wonder of the world. When we first heard about the Helsinki Foundation we knew that we wanted to be Guardians. The Helsinki Foundation has allowed us to secure ecologically significant land for future generations.

As we are regularly on the road it’s also saved us a lot of time in buying unique and valuable presents for our loved ones.

We were so surprised when Hamish received a Helsinki Greenspace from his favourite Aunty and Uncle. At only 6 months old we expected throw away gifts and tacky toys for his first Christmas, not something that was his forever and made a difference to the world that he’ll grow up in.

Half the fun for us, as his parents, was finding the exact location in Google maps. One day we’re really hoping to take him on an adventure to Lapland to have lunch in his own greenspace.

Last year I bought a Greenspace from the Arctic Taiga Reserve in Lapland for my dogs. I like Helsinki Fondation’s concept: when you help conserve a piece of land you get the cordinates of that place. You can actually go and see what plants and animals you help to conserve look like. I went to Lake Näsmäjärvi and took some photos of my Greenspace. Such a lovely place. The cloudberries were just ready to eat.
